This short film will explore issues of press freedom, censorship, and satire in the Republic of Guinea. Le Lynx is a political newspaper and Guinea’s oldest independent media outlet. Founded in 1992, in the immediate wake of media reforms, Le Lynx has been foundational within Guinea to telling the story of the country and creating its modern public culture. The publication has survived raids, threats of closure, and the arrest and imprisonment of its editor. Today, as journalists are facing increasing physical and existential threats in Guinea, Le Lynx provides a counter-narrative of what it means to work and endure as the independent press.
